Last night, Oct. 18, I was invited to a launch party for handbag designer, Coach, with the very popular blogger, Chrisell Lim in attendance. Honestly, I had never heard of her before I got the invite from Coach. I thought I should go to see what the younger bloggers are doing these days. I did look her up before I went and she is beautiful and has wonderful style. However, I did not know she lived in Los Angeles like I do. Slightly embarrassing. She also has one million followers and a crew of 10 people who work on her blog!! Wow!! I am just me, and one tech person who helps me, obviously. But, then again, I don’t have one million followers, however on Facebook I have a quarter of a million followers. Below is the beautiful Chrisell.
Do you recognize this iconic bag? Yes, if you didn’t have one, someone you knew did. Now, Coach is bringing back their fine quality leathers and traditional styles that were so popular in the ’60’s and ’70’s. As more Coach stores opened in Outlet Malls, they lost their quality and their Panache. Well, once you see this bag, a nostalgic string will tug at your heartstrings. It will remind of when fashion meant style and quality (that you could afford). It will remind you of the smell and feel of quality leather and that something so simple is still so pretty.
The irony of it all, is that Coach is now seeking out the younger generations to discover the qualities that we loved so much. Will the younger generation love it as much as we did? They have added a few features where you can customize the bag with metallic symbols and some embossing. I guess things the younger generations like!!!
Above are Chrisell and some of her friends who, not surprisingly, look pretty trendy. I can tell you for sure, that I was the oldest one there, and not so trendy, though I was wearing my one pair of Coach shoes!!!
Well, it remains to be seen how popular Coach will be even though their creative director did win the award from the CFDA for the best accessories designer last year. By the way, Coach, Marc Jacobs and a couple other brands have consolidated in to one large conglomerate called Tapestry. Now, the only fashion conglomerate in the United States. But, there will be more about that later.
I was the only one who got the irony of the situation. Seeing the “old” Coach brought back wonderful memories. Seeing this younger generation being introduced to the brand that I knew and loved so well, as a new concept, made me feel sad and happy at the same time. Sad, in a way that I didn’t keep those old Coach bags, but happy that they are back. Once our generation finds out about this, we will see which demographic wins the prize!!
Love your blog. Follow you on Facebook. I admire your style and greatly appreciate your hard work to bring your followers the latest trends.
Hi Christia,
Thank you so much for your kind words. You have no idea how much appreciate that you appreciate my efforts, and that you took the time to write and tell. If you ever have anything to add, please let me know. Best, Wendy
I like these coach bags so much better than the coach bags with the C’s all over them. Might even buy one of these. Thank you for sharing these.
Hi Anita,
It’s really fun to see Coach try and reinvent itself. Their brand got so tacky when you found them at every outlet mall.
The new bags are really nice, I hope they can reinvent themselves.
Thanks for your input. Best, Wendy
Hi Anita,
Thanks for your input. I am sorry it took me a bit to get back to you. I didn’t see this. Forgive me.
Coach is really making every effort to bring back the quality and style that we all remember from the ’60’s and ’70’s!!
Let me know if you do buy something. Best, Wendy
